The Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here would soon get around 150 new doctors. The Centre has sanctioned around 1,100 new posts, of which around 400 will be on contract and the remaining 700 include doctors, nurses, technicians and ministerial staff among others.
Of the 150 sanctioned posts of doctor, around 70 are for faculty and 80 are for resident doctors.
The notification regarding the sanction of the posts was issued late last month, and these have been sanctioned as per the plans to increase posts overall to make some more space for the larger OBC (Other Backward Classes) quota. Now, the institute will advertise the new posts in newspapers and invite applications from the eligible candidates.
At present, there are around 1,300 doctors at the PGIMER - 400 faculty, 300 senior resident doctors and around 600 junior residents. In all, the institute has 9,000 employees, of which 5,500 are regular and 3,500
